After School Enrichment Program
The After School Enrichment Program is for grades 5-8. The classes are designed to enhance the day school curriculum. This program begins at 3:00 p.m. daily with a Bible lesson, snack, and recess activities. Each child prepares for their next day’s school work or tests with tutors and mentors available to assist them. Plus, it is a chance to learn new skills such as music, photography and chess, to participate on sports teams, and to have broad positive experiences. For example, we have partnered with the Orpheum Theater to provide our children a chance to go backstage for major theatrical productions as well as view the production as an audience member.
Civics is taught with class lessons supplemented with field trips to bring the classroom to life. Additional programs include art, mission classes, and gardening as components of the afterschool program.
Service activities are encouraged and our children love going to nursing homes to read to the seniors and speak with them. The Binghampton Development Corporation is partnering with the school and a nearby senior citizen apartment complex to provide garden plots for our students and seniors to plant their own crops.
Summer is a busy time for the school as we try to provide constructive activities for each child. During the summer, the school provides local, regional and global summer camps and mission opportunities for all students and provides transportation, funds, and chaperones for each student attending camps.
Volunteers are one of the important components of The After School Enrichment Program. Volunteers come weekly on various afternoons to tutor our students. These persons help to make this program a success. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer in our After School Enrichment Program, please call (901) 323-4092 or complete our on-line form.
