Tari Harris, Head of School, welcomes you to visit TNS anytime.
Welcome from our Head of SchoolFrom all of us at The Neighborhood School Family, I want to welcome you to our website. At TNS we provide a nurturing family-like environment where we create an atmosphere where students can strive both academically and spiritually. We pray together daily. We engage students in academic challenges, such as Bible Bowls, Living Museums, Project-Based Learning, Accelerated Reader, and more! We provide a Christian setting in Binghampton with a Day School and Residential Program where some of our students can live on campus in order to be given the opportunity for a more successful educational experience. We welcome volunteers with open arms and I strongly encourage you to stop by for a tour of our facilities. Our door is always open to you. At TNS our guiding scripture is, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13
In Christ,
Tari C. Harris, Head of School
Jo and John Walt, school founders, with TNS students.
A loving historyIn the early 1990s, God placed a burden on the heart of Mrs. Jo Walt for the hurting children in our community. The result was the creation of The Neighborhood School to offer a Christian education for Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. She targeted the Binghampton area of Memphis, where many of the school's children had fallen between the cracks in public school and many were destined to be dead or in prison if no one intervened. We believe that The Neighborhood School offers a unique model for urban education in America.
